SYNCWIRE Magnetic Phone Ring Holder Review: MagSafe Grip and Kickstand

A magnetic phone ring with a double-loop design, N52 magnets and dual-sided magnetism. Here's who it fits and who should skip it.

The SYNCWIRE Magnetic Phone Ring Holder is worth buying if you want a MagSafe grip that also props your phone up in landscape. The double-loop design and N52 magnets hold 1 to 1.2KG on the phone side, 2.5KG with the included metal ring. Skip it if you want zero added thickness.

Two Rings Instead of One

The double-loop is the whole reason I picked this one up. Most magnetic phone ring grips give you a single loop, which means one usable propped-up angle and a lot of hoping your phone doesn’t tip. The SYNCWIRE Magnetic Phone Ring Holder opens into a second loop with a longer support arm, so you get portrait and landscape without buying a separate stand. I show both positions in the video.

Folded flat it’s a grip. Opened out, and this is the part single-loop rivals can’t match, it’s a two-position kickstand that holds landscape without wobbling.

Snapping It On the First Time

Setup is one finger and about two seconds. There’s no adhesive, no app, no pairing, nothing to charge. You line it up with the MagSafe ring on the back of your phone and it pulls itself into place.

If your phone or case isn’t MagSafe, that’s where the included metal ring comes in. You stick that on the back first, then the holder attaches to it. SYNCWIRE rates the phone-side hold at 1 to 1.2KG on its own and 2.5KG when you use the metal ring, so the adapter route is the stronger of the two. Worth knowing before you assume it works on any phone out of the box, because it doesn’t.

What a Magnetic Phone Ring Gets You Day to Day

The dual-sided magnetism is the feature I’d point to second. Because of the dual-layer magnet plus iron stack, the outer face is magnetic too, which means you can drop the phone onto a MagSafe car mount without peeling the ring off first. That’s the thing that kills most ring grips for me. You buy one, then you can’t use your car mount, then it comes off and lives in a drawer.

That same outer face sticks to any iron surface, fridge, gym equipment, the steel pole on a subway car, which turns it into a hands-free camera mount anywhere you’d never bother hauling out a tripod. It’s a genuinely useful accident of the design, not a marketing bullet point.

Then there’s the travel use case, and this is the one SYNCWIRE leans into hardest. Open the double loop and it clamps onto an airplane tray table or hooks onto a seat back, so you’re watching something at eye level instead of neck-down on your lap for four hours. Same deal on a train. I don’t know about you, but the tray-table phone problem is one I’ve never properly solved with any other accessory.

Durability-wise, the hinge is rated for more than 12,000 folds without going floppy. That’s the number that matters on a product like this, because a ring grip that loosens is a ring grip you stop trusting. Magnets don’t wear out. Hinges do.

One practical note on buying: the price moves. It’s hovered near its three-month average lately but has dipped noticeably lower before, so hit the live listing before you assume today’s number is as good as it gets. It’s also selling noticeably better lately, ranking around #9,517 in Cell Phones & Accessories against a 90-day average near #12,199, with over 100 bought in the past month.

Who This Fits, Who It Doesn’t

Buy it if you’re a frequent flier or a car-mount person. Those two groups get the most out of the double loop and the dual-sided magnet respectively. It’s also a good pick if you want a magnetic phone grip you can pop off entirely when you want a slim phone in your pocket, which you can’t do with an adhesive ring.

Don’t buy it if you wirelessly charge constantly. Anything sitting in the MagSafe spot has to come off first, and that gets old. Same if you already use a magnetic phone wallet there, since you only get one magnetic parking space on the back of a phone and these two products want the same one. And if your case is thick or non-magnetic, factor in the metal ring step.

Pros

  • Double-loop design gives you both portrait and landscape standing, not just one angle
  • Dual-sided magnetism means you keep using your MagSafe car mount with the ring on
  • N52 magnets rated to 2.5KG when paired with the included metal ring
  • Hinge tested past 12,000 folds, which is the part that usually fails first
  • Completely removable, no adhesive, no charging, no app

Cons

  • It occupies the MagSafe spot, so wireless charging means taking it off every time
  • Non-MagSafe phones need the metal adapter ring stuck on first, which is a permanent commitment to that spot
  • Phone-side hold on its own tops out at 1 to 1.2KG, noticeably less than the 2.5KG figure people quote
  • Adds thickness to the back of the phone, so pocket carry isn’t as clean

Frequently Asked Questions

Does it work with Android phones?

Yes, with the included metal ring. Android phones without built-in magnets need that adapter stuck to the back or the case, and then the holder snaps onto it at the stronger 2.5KG rating. Pixel and Galaxy users with Qi2 magnetic cases can skip the adapter entirely.

Can I still wirelessly charge my phone with it attached?

No. It sits directly over the charging coil, so you’ll need to pull it off before putting the phone on a pad or a magnetic phone charger. It lifts off in a second, but if you charge several times a day that becomes a real annoyance.

Will it damage my phone or leave residue?

Not on the holder side, since it’s magnetic rather than adhesive and lifts straight off. The included metal ring is the adhesive piece, so if you go that route, place it carefully on a case rather than directly on the phone back.

Is it allowed through airport security and on planes?

Yes, it’s a passive magnet with no battery, so it goes through security as a normal accessory. SYNCWIRE specifically designed the double loop to clamp on tray tables and seat backs for in-flight viewing.
